Access to Employment and Training was formed in 1996 as Help in Hoxton, and launched in its present form in 1998, with the aim of supporting unemployed people in Hackney and North and East London into employment, through a programme of outreach (including door to door engagement in social housing areas) training and support.

Access runs resource centres in North Hackney, Shoreditch and Spitalfields, the last of these supported by the City of London and the Spitalfields Development Project.

The new Crisis Employment Services team

Crisis is developing its programmes for enabling homeless and formerly homeless people to develop the skills which will enable them to find work.

Richard Brooks is head of the new Employability Programmes at Crisis.

His team will deliver the Learning and Skills Council funded Skills for Jobs for Homeless People programme, which will include a consortium of some of London's leading homeless charities led by Crisis.

The Everybody Online project in Portsoken provides City of London and City Fringe residents with a variety of free, informal training and support using computers and the internet.

No previous experience with using computers is required. All classes that take place here are free of charge. You can choose from an informal class or one that comes with a certificate.
